Private Lessons
My goal as an instructor is to prepare students for the musical future they desire. I work with beginners to equip them with a strong instrumental and musical foundation; intermediate players to develop performance and self-development skills; and professionals who want to further hone the specific skill-sets that I specialize in.
I believe that my role as an educator is multifaceted—I provide students with concrete, directly applicable skills, guide students through developing effective practice and study approaches, motivate and inspire students to bring the best of themselves to all of their work, and channel their creative and artistic goals through the technical skills we work to develop.
I have had students go on to pursue studies in music at institutes of higher education including Berklee College of Music, Western Michigan University, Columbia College, Michigan Technological University, and Tilburg University in the Netherlands. I have had many other students who pursue other career paths, but retain the musical and extra-musical skills that they developed in lessons. Other students have directly gone on to professional careers in performance, recording, music production, music therapy, music education, and numerous other musical fields.
